interned at ABC Canberra and partnered with The Canberra Times to produce various stories across multiple platforms.

SKILLS:

I can work for a deadline-driven company and produce quality work in a timely manner.

I demonstrate initiative and determination to complete any task in an efficient manner.

I understand the value of work discipline, punctuality, and efficiency in the newsroom.

I can adapt in varying circumstances to fit my company’s needs.

I can work independently and in a team environment to contribute story ideas that highlight a problem, situation, or event relating to one of the news values in journalism.

EXPERIENCE :

Port Macquarie News | Port Macquarie, NSW

28/02/2022 - present

I have been a journalist at the Port Macquarie News for the past two years.

During this time, I have been writing an array of distinctive and original stories that have pushed the boundaries of regional journalism. I have taken on various roles to suit my company’s needs, including writing stories, producing videos, taking compelling photos, managing social media pages, websites and print.

Most notably, I have been covering court, sport, breaking news and general news in an effort to keep the community informed.

Canberra Times | Canberra, ACT

18/08/2021 - 23/11/2021

I partnered with The Canberra Times in 2021 to produce a feature length story.

This experience introduced me to the rhythm of deadline-driven journalism and allowed me to use my foundation of multi-platform reporting and editorial skills to find and report on a story for a publishing company.

During this time, I successfully pitched a relevant story for the publication, secured appropriate talents that were able to effectively discuss contents within the story, and produced a feature length article for the paper that was published online and in print.

ABC Canberra | Canberra, ACT

02/3/2021 - 12/03/2021

I interned at ABC Canberra for two weeks during my studies at the University of Canberra. During my time there I assisted in the production of radio, television, and court reporting.

This experience developed my researching, writing, and reporting skills and provided me with valuable insights into the production and role of the television and radio newsroom.

Most notably, I was able to research community stories, book talent and produce segments for Afternoons Radio while also assisting with on field rand court reporting. â€‹
