 Summary

I am a recent journalism graduate with exceptional researching and writing abilities who completed a Diploma of Communication in 2019 and a Bachelor of Communication and Media (Journalism) degree at the University of Canberra in 2021. During that time, I produced stories for UCFM and wrote for NowUC and Curieux magazine. In 2021, I also interned at ABC Canberra and partnered with The Canberra Times to produce various stories across multiple platforms.

Experience

Canberra Times | Scott Hannaford - Canberra, ACT 

18/08/2021 - 23/11/2021

I partnered with The Canberra Times in 2021 to produce a feature length print story for the newspaper. During this time, I was able to successfully pitch, produce and publish a feature story that can be found on my online portfolio.  

 

This experience introduced me to the rhythm of deadline-driven journalism and allowed me to use my foundation of multi-platform reporting and editorial skills to find and and report on a story for a publishing company.  

 

During this time, I successfully pitched a relevant story for the publication, secured appropriate talents that were able to effectively discuss contents within the story, and produce a feature length story for the newspaper that was published along with original photography. 

 

ABC Canberra | Louise Willis - Canberra, ACT

I interned at ABC Canberra for two weeks during my studies at the University of Canberra. During my time there I assisted in the production of radio, television, and court reporting. 

​

This experience developed my researching, writing, and reporting skills and provided me with valuable insights into the production and role of the television and radio newsroom. 

​

Most notably, I was able to research community stories, book talent and produce segments for Afternoons Radio while also assisting with on field rand court reporting. 

 

Scaramouche (Mobile Children's Entertainment Service) | Kelly Biddle - Port Macquarie, NSW  

13/01/2017 - 18/01/2019  

I was employed with Scaramouche, a mobile children's entertainment service, from 13th January 2017 until 18th January 2020.

 

Working as a children's entertainer, my role was to provide a high standard of customer service and quality entertainment to domestic and corporate clients.  

My responsibilities included running and co coordinating weekend and school holiday entertainment within Shopping Centres, Resorts, and at local corporate events.

This experience demonstrated my ability to be reliable, loyal, flexible, and a conscientious employee as I organised and conducted events to meet the needs and wants of my clients, while also seeking to consistently communicate and engage with them to create a happy and comforting environment for all parties involved; including children, parents, and security guards when necessary.  

 

Pharmacy Sales Assistant | Khodary's Pharmacy - Port Macquarie

09/2016 - 08/2018  

I was employed with Khodary's Pharmacy (Your Discount Chemist) from 18/09/2016 until 05/08/2018.  

Working as a Pharmacy Sales Assistant, I adopted various roles and responsibilities to assist the betterment of the workplace.  

​

This included welcoming and greeting customers as they enter the pharmacy, making sure the customers was comfortable, receiving information from customers, accepting prescriptions, and preparing the paperwork for the staff pharmacist to fill in the medication.  

​

These roles provided me with valuable organisation skills and allowed me to experience and exercise a diligent fact checking process to ensure information regarding medication was correctly conveyed to the customers.  

​

Additionally, the job allowed me to acquire the ability to handle emergencies and remain calm when dealing with any perceived challenges in the workplace.
